How to deploy custom configuration profiles to tvOS devices?

Hexnode’s Deploy Custom Configuration feature helps you remotely push a plethora of additional policies across devices within a few clicks’ time. Custom configuration profiles are used to standardize settings for various device functionalities. These profiles are created to define specific enterprise settings on the endpoints, for instance, Email configurations, Wi-Fi settings, AirPrint specifications, etc. This doc describes the procedure to distribute custom configuration profiles on Apple TV devices directly from the Hexnode console.

Note:

Choose only non-encrypted .mobileconfig, .xml, or .plist files for deploying custom configurations to the devices from Hexnode.

Distribute custom configuration profiles

Administrators can customize custom configuration profiles using Apple Configurator, profile editor apps or any such tools. Further, uploading it to the Hexnode console helps distribute them to the devices remotely.

  1. Log in to the Hexnode console.
  2. Navigate to Policies > New Policy.
  3. Provide a policy name and description (optional).
  4. Go to Apple TV > Deploy Custom Configuration > Configure > Choose File.
  5. You may choose the configuration profiles from the device or select profiles, which are already added to the portal.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Move to Policy Targets.
  8. Select devices/device groups/users/user groups/domain to associate the policy. Click OK.
  9. Click Save.
Note:

  • Make sure you do not associate conflicting configurations with the devices.
  • Suppose a custom configuration profile containing payloads for a certain platform is applied to a device belonging to a different platform. In that case, the policy would be successfully associated and a Success status would be displayed on the Action History page. However, the policy application will take place only on the prescribed devices.
